Industry: Food Processing

Project: Make stainless steel saddles for food processing equipment

Start Date: January 2010

We were approached by a client in the fish processing industry with this formed stainless steel sheet metal part for their processing machinery. Shown here is the sample part and a sheet metal test pattern that was laser cut from 12 gauge stainless steel.

This is a rendering of a SolidWorks computer model of the press die that was designed to form the flat pattern into the finished part. Because we designed and simulated this in the computer, we were able to have a high level of confidence that it would perform as expected. Since we were making these parts in volume, the cost of the die would pay for itself in the time saved in production.

Shown here is the completed die loaded into our CNC press brake undergoing testing. The test parts will be formed and inspected to verify the process.
